All right, so we all had a chance to watch Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” on E! News, right? (No? Watch it here!) Now it’s time to discuss the deeper meaning behind it.

Speaking exclusively to E! News, Gaga says, “There’s certainly always a hidden message in my music videos. But I would say most predominately, I’m always trying to convolute everyone’s idea of what a pop music video should be.”

When we think pop music videos, choreographed dances, costume changes and crazy editing are pretty standard, so what makes her video so different?

“There was this really amazing quality in ‘Paparazzi,’ where it kind of had this pure pop music quality but at the same time it was a commentary on fame culture. In its own way, even at certain points working with Jonas [Åkerlund, the director of both videos] really achieved this high art quality in the way that it was shot. I wanted to do the same thing with this video—take a decidedly pop song, which on the surface has a quite shallow meaning, and turn it into something deeper.”

She also had the support of Inglourious Basterds writer/director Quentin Tarantino, which can’t be underestimated.

“There certainly is a Tarantino-inspired quality in the video,” she says. “I mostly love the way he uses different forms to create something new. His direct involvement in the video came from him lending me the Pussy Wagon. We were having lunch one day in Los Angeles and I was telling him about my concept for the video and he loved it so much he said, ‘You gotta use the Pussy Wagon.’”

Ultimately, Gaga says her intent was to take “the idea that America is full of young people that are inundated with information and technology and turn it into something that was more of a commentary on the kind of country that we are.”

At first glance, the country she portrays is all about dancing, mass murder, sexy lady jail and Polaroid. But we must be missing something…Is it about the high recidivism rates among felons exiting American prisons? Unsanitary kitchen conditions? Strong lady friendships kill men? Beyoncé’s dangerous levels of fierceness? Or is this just another one of Gaga’s masterful manipulations?

Tell us what you think Gaga’s talking about!

Lady Gaga is currently in the midst of the Australian leg of her massive Monster Ball tour — with scheduled stops in Japan and Europe — and, as you probably know by now, she’s also putting the finishing touches on the much-anticipated “Telephone” video, too.

But neither of those things are standing in the way of yet another ambitious endeavor, a planned 3-D concert and subsequent DVD.

On Monday (March 8), MTV News spoke to a rep for her label, Interscope Records, who told us that “there are talks about a 3-D concert and DVD in the near future.” No other information — including just how a 3-D concert would manifest — was available at press time.

Late last week, Gaga fan sites began speculating about plans for a 3-D DVD, but this is the first time a concert has been mentioned. In December, Gaga released a deluxe edition of her Fame Monster album, which included a pair of 3-D glasses that she mysteriously explained would come in handy “for things happening soon.”

In the meantime, her Little Monsters are gearing up for the debut of the “Telephone” video — the follow-up to her striking “Bad Romance” clip — which, after weeks of teasing from Gaga herself and some last-minute editing, is scheduled to premiere Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET on E! News.

Who’s sorry now? Posing on the April cover of Cosmopolitan magazine, superstar Lady Gaga reveals that an old flame doubted her future fame.

The 23 year-old (real name: Stefani Germonatta) reveals to the mag that an old flame doubted her. “I had a boyfriend who told me I’d never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, never have a hit song, and that he hoped I’d fail,” she recounts. “I said to him, ‘Someday, when we’re not together, you won’t be able to order a cup of coffee at the f***ing deli without hearing or seeing me.’”

In the interview, she adds that she “ate sh** for so long” trying to make it in the music business. “I’ve always been delusionally ambitious to the point where people don’t understand me,” she says.

Also notable in the Cosmo spread: she looks kinda normal! The singer — who has stepped out in bizarre headgear, a translucent bubble dress, antique neck braces, spooky face masks and a latex body suit — wears conventional lingerie on the cover and a little black dress inside.

With wavy blond hair and vampy makeup, the star looks more like a pinup model or Golden Era movie star than the wacky, “avant garde” pop star known to the public.
